NoBo First Friday Artwalk

NoBo Art District’s First Friday is a FREE self-guided tour of artists’ studios and creative businesses in the NoBo Art District. Meet painters, sculptors, photographers, designers and other artists along your stroll through the area.  Attendees will also enjoy live music, demos and special activities in many locations. Located along Broadway from Pine Street to Highway 36.  Follow the polka dots and pink flags to find surprises around every corner. Guided walking tours led by a NoBo Art District member. will visit 4-5 NoBo artists in their studios at 6:30 pm at 4635 Broadway, ACE Community Art Gallery. CenterStage Theatre Company presents Elf, Jr.: The Musical. Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

The bright glow of the holidays is once again coming to the Town of Lyons for the Lyons Holiday Bazaar & the Holiday Parade of Lights. The parade will start at 6:30 pm and will be filled with illuminated, colorful floats, many of which will be decorated in the theme of this year’s parade — “Peace on Earth”. Live music and entertainment will follow the parade at approximately 7:15 p.m. in Sandstone Park, on the Raul Vasquez Community Stage. Among those performing this year will be the Lyons High School and Elementary School Show Choirs. At 7:40 p.m., the sky will be illuminated by a fireworks display (thanks to generous donations & grants received from the Lyons Community Foundation and other local supporters)!

Light up the cold dark season with Fiske Planetarium‘s warm and bright holiday show! Season of Light explores the reasons humans are so fascinated with lighting up our lives during the December holiday season. It’s an exploration of the astronomical meanings behind seasonal traditions, including the “Star over Bethlehem”. This show traces the history and development of many of the world’s most endearing holiday customs, all of which involve lighting up the winter season — from the burning Yule log, sparkling Christmas tree lights and candles in windows, to the lighting of luminarias in the American Southwest and the traditional ritual of the Hanukkah Menorah.

Come and enjoy the holiday season at Historic Hoverhome in Longmont! Tour this beautifully decorated 1913-1914 historic house all decked-out for the holidays. Centennial State Ballet is proud to present the 17th annual performances of The Nutcracker! Audiences of all ages will delight in the classic holiday tale of Clara and her prince as they travel to the land of sweets. The story comes to life on stage, featuring students from Longmont Dance Theatre Academy, in this grand-scale production. Longmont’s youth ballet company performs under the direction of Executive Artistic Director Kristin Kingsley. Featuring Tchaikovsky original score with accompaniment by Flatirons Community Orchestra and the St. Vrain Singers. The performances also feature guest artists Matthew Helms and Christopher Smidt.
