Looking for something fun to do with the kids this weekend? Check out The Sound of Music, watch Hook at Erie’s Movies in the Park, enjoy a bit of culture and comedy at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival’s Taming of the Shrew, get the kids moving at the Kids Fun Run and Summer Activities Fair, Celebrate Father’s Day with BBQ and a bouncy castle at Oskar Blues, have a blast on Sunday morning at Summer Sundays on the Hill, and see the Boulder Ballet perform at Ballet at the Park. Take the kids to the theater! Parlando School of Musical Arts will be presenting their 2017 “Summerstock” staged musical: The Sound of Music this weekend. Witness some of Boulder’s best young musicians and performers for this timeless, family-friendly classic.

Erie’s Movie in the Park – Hook

When: Saturday, June 17

Where: Erie Community Park, 450 Powers St, Erie, Colorado 80516

Time: 8:30 – 10:30 PM

Cost: Free

Ages: All Ages

Relax with the kids for an evening of free family entertainment to watch the classic – Hook at Erie Community Park. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs and snacks. The movie will began at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.) and end by 10:30 p.m.

Colorado Shakespeare Festival – Taming of the Shrew

Where: Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre

Time: 8PM

Cost: Youth ages 5 – 12 $10, Youth ages 13-18, $20, Adult $50. Get tickets here.

Ages: 5 and up

Witness the Shakespearean comedy, Taming of the Shrew, live at Boulder’s picturesque Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre. The Colorado Shakespeare Festival was founded in 1958 and is still going strong. CSF’s award-winning education program also presents classes, workshops and camps for all ages throughout the year.

Kids Fun Run and Summer Activities Fair

Ages: 12 and under

Macaroni Kid Publishers is hosting a free Fun Run and  Summer Activities Fair this weekend! The event will include fun activities, a kids fun-run and family-friendly local businesses with giveaways and information on summer activities. Join the Boy Scouts for a free pancake breakfast. Age appropriate games include: fishing for prizes, ball pit egg search, water games, ring toss and more! For the fun run, have your kids dress up in their favorite costume! Races for all ages from crawlers to school age children. Please register your child for the run here.

 

 

Father’s Day BBQ at Oskar Blues

If the father in your life likes beer and bbq, this is the event for him!Special for Father’s Day, Oskar Blues Grill & Brew in Lyons is featuring BBQ shrimp, salmon, and andouille sausage with cheesy mac and coleslaw. Cans of Dale’s Pale Ale will be $2 all day. For the little ones, there will be plenty of delicious kid-friendly options as well as a bouncy castle!

The Hill Summer Sundays

In partnership with Daily Camera and City of Boulder Colorado Government, The Hill has announced a FREE new event series: Summer Sundays on The Hill! Every Sunday in June and July from 8-11:00 AM, 13th Street will be closed to host free outdoor yoga and barre classes, as well as free just-for-kids-fun and community activities. Parking is FREE on Sundays, too! All activities are FREE. This week’s activities include: Barre class with The Dailey Method, Boulder Fire Department’s Truck and Gear Activities, Kids’ Temporary Tattoo Station, Hair Braiding Station, Bubbles & Chalk, Hula Hooping & Live Music.
