Catrina Painting Days

September 19 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 5:00 pm on Sunday and Saturday, repeating until October 2, 2021

Join Firehouse Art Center to create your own Catrina! The term Catrina refers to the Calavera Catrina – a 1910–1913 zinc etching by the Mexican printmaker, cartoon illustrator and lithographer José Guadalupe Posada. She is offered as a satirical portrait of those Mexican natives who, Posada felt, were aspiring to adopt European aristocratic traditions in the pre-revolution era. La Catrina has become an icon of the Mexican Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. For more information, click here.
