Spring Arts Day at the Boulder Shambhala Center

Bonfire & Benefit Concert in the Sunflower Field

Cost: FREE. Donations to Boulder County Hospice can be made during the event.
Everyone is invited to spend an evening at the farm for a simple night of community & music to benefit Boulder County Hospice. Bring your family, friends, a chair, whatever beverages make you happy, snacks to enjoy or share, and whatever gear gets you comfy. Provisions will be simple but wholesome: live music and room to twirl, a bonfire to gather round as the evening progresses. Feel free to share this invitation widely – the more the merrier. The all-gal bluegrass trio Sugar Moon will be playing two sets of heartfelt music starting around 6PM, and gathering around the bonfire to close out the night. Winter Woolies Western and Ranch Horse Show

Join the Weld County 4-H Horse Council at Boulder County Fairgrounds Indoor Arena for some serious Winter Woolies horse fun at the Western and Ranch Horse Show. This is an open show, everyone is welcome! Watch these young riders perform in a variety of races and games. Since this is an active horse show, take care to keep kids away from horses warming up (there will be plenty of seating in the grandstands). For more info, click here.

Lionheart Youth Theatre’s Petra and the Wolf at the Broomfield Auditorium

Creative Broomfield presents Lionheart Youth Theatre’s Petra and the Wolf. A new work for young audiences inspired from the Prokofiev classic Peter and the Wolf, with captivating large-scale puppetry by Glass Half Full Theatre and a new instrumental score written and performed live by Mother Falcon, a band NPR describes as “the little orchestra that can seemingly do the impossible.” This original work introduces the mischievous but fearless Petra, the granddaughter of the fabled Peter. When a wolf threatens her home and animal friends, her adventures become a showcase of bravery and compassion. Family audiences will walk away from this stunning piece of visual & musical storytelling with a new sense of empathy for the animals that share our earth. Best for 1st grade and up. All ages welcome. Original score performed live by Mother Falcon.

The 5th annual Boulder Arts Week is happening through April 7, 2018, at venues throughout the city. Celebrating Boulder artists, the week is Boulder’s only large-scale, inclusive celebration of our community’s vibrant arts and cultural offerings, promoting and celebrating our city’s thriving creativity. There are many kid-friendly art experiences, including Saturday Tinker Time at Tinker Art Studio, family painting classes at POSHsplat, free trial music lessons at Parlando School of Musical Arts, sewing rebellion at BLDG 61, and a ton of other events!
