Boulder is starting out the holiday week early with a Friday full of fun kids events, and into the weekend with community events, music, laser shows and more. All happening this weekend in and around Boulder.

FRIDAY

Friday Afternoon Crafting at McGuckin’s

When: Friday, June 29, 2018 from 3PM – 4PM

Head to McGuckin’s for a Friday afternoon of kid-friendly crafting activities! A perfect way to wind down the week and get ready for the weekend. This Friday, McGuckin’s is planning Independence Day-themed projects. Please be sure to indicate whether you plan to attend so that we can prepare enough materials. RSVP here.

Final Fiesta – Salsa Night with Quemando

When: Friday, June 29, 2018 from 6PM – 9:30PM

The 2018 Downtown Longmont Summer Concerts will finish strong with a sendoff salsa fiesta in the intersection of 4th and Kimbark! Free salsa lessons from 6:00 – 6:30 in front of the stage, thanks to Ole Caribbean DJ presented by Journey Language Center! Then Sontres Latin Music will keep things moving and Quemando Salsa will continue the party well into the evening. The concerts are always free to attend. Local food and craft beverages will be available for purchase, and there will also be kids activities, music, dancing, prizes and more! Special giveaway drawing for early arrivals. Lafayette Movies in the Park – Moana

Grab a lawn chair or blanket and join the City of Lafayette for its 2018 Movie in the Park series. All movies are free! On June 29, see the movie Moana! Food /movie snacks will be available for purchase. Remember to leave your canine friends at home for these movies. Only Service Dogs allowed.

Boulder Rally for Family Unity

When: Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 10AM – 12PM

All around the nation, Americans will be coming together in the name of love and families by rallying for Families Belong Together on June 30. The Boulder Rally and March will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder. This rally will focus on love, compassion and community. This is a family-friendly event, open to the public. Lyons Good Old Days

When: Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 8AM – 11PM

The Lyons Good Old Days Celebration will be kicking off with the Lyons River Run and Doggie Dash 5K, this year’s festivities include annual favorites, such as the car show, live music, and a performance by Mayama, along with exciting new additions! Throughout the day, Dizzy’s kids area will host an array of activities, with face painting, balloon artistry, artisan vendors, games, and live music happening during the excitement. This year’s musical performances include Jeff and Paige, beginning at 2PM for the kids, and Joe Kuckla and Irons in the Fire wrapping up the evening, among other talented artists. And finally, it wouldn’t be Good Old Days without honoring Lyons’ heritage, through special programs and presentations by Mrs. LaVern Johnson and the Redstone Museum. All the details here.

Double Feature at Fiske Planetarium

Fiske Planetarium is hosting a kid-friendly Double Feature, pairing a family-friendly fulldome shows with its most popular laser shows. In the film “We Are Stars,” narrated by Andy Serkis, the characters seek to answer some of the biggest questions of all time. What are we made of? Where did it all come from? Explore the secrets of our cosmic chemistry, our explosive origins and connect life on Earth to the evolution of the Universe. A family-friendly film full of fun, adventure, and enlightenment. (30 minutes). Perseus and Andromeda, one of the most famous tales in Greek mythology. The story is told using our state of the art laser system with characters dazzling the dome. The laser show (30 minutes).

Family Fun Concert – Meet the Strings

Take the kids to experience the Colorado Music Festival in kid-friendly fashion at the Family Fun Concert! Family Fun Concerts give younger children a chance to meet different sections of the orchestra. Small ensembles perform short, informal musical programs. Meet the musicians and their instruments following each performance. This is a sensory friendly performance. Ride the FREE Park to Park shuttle to this show!

Mystic Circus Farm Festival for Tanzania

Longmont Chorale’s Indoor Patriotic Performance

Come in out of the heat to salute our country in the cool indoors with a patriotic performance by the Longmont Chorale. This is a kid-friendly concert.

This performance is held at Westview Presbyterian Church in Longmont, 1500 Hover St, Longmont, CO 80501. Tickets: $10 for adult & senior, $5 for veterans, $5 for students 7th grade to age 22. Active military, military in uniform, and 6th grade and under are all FREE.
