This weekend is all about arts, culture and music! Boulder will be hosting the Pearl Street Arts Fest, Longmont will be hosting the Peruvian Festival, plus there are a handful of fun, interesting and enriching classes and activities happening around the Boulder area.

SATURDAY

Youth Art Workshop: The Art of Inspiration

The Dairy Arts Center is hosting a Youth Art Workshop: The Art of Inspiration for kids ages 10 and up. In this class students will have the opportunity to explore their personal inspirations and discover the similarities and differences in what drives creativity. Students will get to collaborate with classmates in pursuit of showcasing and defining inspiration, both personally and collectively. There will be games, painting, friendship and fun! Double Feature at Fiske Planetarium

Fiske Planetarium is hosting a kid-friendly Double Feature, pairing a family-friendly fulldome shows with its most popular laser shows. In the film “We Are Stars,” narrated by Andy Serkis, the characters seek to answer some of the biggest questions of all time. What are we made of? Where did it all come from? Explore the secrets of our cosmic chemistry, our explosive origins and connect life on Earth to the evolution of the Universe. A family-friendly film full of fun, adventure, and enlightenment. (30 minutes). Perseus and Andromeda, one of the most famous tales in Greek mythology. The story is told using our state of the art laser system with characters dazzling the dome. The laser show (30 minutes).

Fiske Planetarium is located at 2414 Regent Dr, Boulder, CO 80309. This double feature is held on Saturday, July 21 from 1PM – 2PM. Tickets are  $7 for kids, seniors & veterans/ $10 for adults, available for purchase here.

2018 Sanitas Taco Fest

2018 Sanitas Taco Fest has been named the winner of Elevation Outdoors Magazine: BEST BEER FEST of the ROCKIES! Presented by Sanitas Brewing and McDevitt Taco Supply. Kid-friendly and fun, the festival features 30+ Gourmet McDevitt Tacos, fresh beer, five Live Lucha Libre Pro Wrestling matches, three Live Bands, and pinatas for all ages. This event is FREE for kids. All tickets include tacos and beer!

Sanitas Taco Fest will be held from 12PM – 8PM at Sanitas Brewing Company, 3550 Frontier Ave, Boulder, CO 80301. Tickets are $20 for General Admission, $50 for VIP and Kids under 12 are FREE. Purchase tickets here.

Heart Expressions for Kids

Heart Expressions for Kids™ is a uniquely designed program providing a safe place for children to expand and explore their creativity, raise self-esteem, and reveal their higher vibration through music, dance and songs.  Children are encouraged to play an instrument (some are provided), or bring your own, while learning Native American and other fun and playful songs.  At the close of the program, which is typically about an hour long, Gentle Thunder will gather the kids to sit around in a circle where she tells the story of the Hopi Butterfly Dance. Let’s dress up in our butterfly wings and dance! Bring a blanket or chair to sit. Healthy snacks provided.

Heart Expressions for Kids is held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 11AM – Noon at 1236 Carolina Ave, Longmont CO, 80501. Cost for the event is $10/one child; $15/two children; $20/three+ children. Register here.

2018 Erie Concerts in the Park

Erie’s Concerts in the Park will be hosting concerts for the community in July! On July 21, the Deja Blu Variety Dance Band will perform. FREE children’s activities. Beer, wine and concessions will be sold.

Erie Concerts in the Park is held on Saturday, June 21, 2018 from 5PM – 8PM at Coal Creek Park, 575 Kattell St, Erie, CO 80516. Admission is FREE.

Stories of The Land – A Family Storytelling Evening

Music and Stories of the Land – A Family Storytelling Evening to Celebrate Lafayette’s Open Spaces will be held this Saturday! Starting at 5:45PM, enjoy acoustic music. At 7:00PM, enjoy stirring tales of Earth and people in celebration of the many beautiful Open Spaces of Lafayette. Naturalist and storyteller, Martin Ogle, will tell Native American and other indigenous/folk stories as well as help participants learn about Lafayette Open Space. This is a free activity for adults and families (with kids 6 and up) and will take place in the outdoor patio at East Simpson Coffee Co. at 414 E. Simpson Street in Lafayette. To RSVP, contact Martin Ogle at Martin@EntrepreneurialEarth.com. East Simpson Coffee Company will be open for service from 5:30pm-8:30pm offering espresso, organic teas, craft beer, wine. Fresh soup and salads, grilled panini, pastries and more.

This event will be held July 21, 2018 from 6PM – 9PM at East Simpson Coffee Company, 414 E Simpson St, Lafayette, CO 80026. The event is free. Food and drinks available for purchase.

The Music of The Beatles for Kids at Boulder Theater

The Rock and Roll Playhouse presents The Music of the Beatles at the Boulder Theater. Created to provide a shared musical experience for parents and children, the Rock and Roll Playhouse hosts adult-friendly kids’ concerts. Local musicians play music live while kids and parents dance and play in the crowd.

The Music of the Grateful Dead will be hosted at the Boulder Theater this Sunday, June 17, 2018 at 11:30AM and a second show at 2:30PM. Tickets are $15, available here.

Peruvian Festival Longmont

Peruvians Northern Colorado is hosting the 2018 Peruvian Festival in Longmont this Sunday at Sandstone Ranch Community Park. This festival celebrates the 197th anniversary of Peruvian independence. Live music, food, dancing, vendors and more!

The Peruvian Festival is held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 8AM – 8PM at Sandstone Ranch Community Park, 2525 E Ken Pratt Blvd, Longmont, CO 80504. This event is FREE.

Pearl Street Arts Fest

From whimsical and modern sculptures to traditional watercolors and oils & more, Pearl Street Arts Fest is a beautiful outdoor gallery nestled in the heart of downtown Boulder on the renowned Pearl Street Mall. Artists will travel from all over Colorado and more than 20 other U.S. states to exhibit and sell pieces to experienced collectors, as well as enthusiastic newcomers. Click here to view some of the exhibiting artists. In addition to artisan booths, Open Studios Mobile Art Lab will bring on site art instruction and inspiration to students of all ages at the art activity tent Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 3 pm on the Courthouse Lawn. The Pearl Street Arts Fest is held on the Pearl Street Mall on Saturday, July 21 from 10 am – 7 pm and Sunday, July 22 from 10 am – 5 pm.
