CU Wizards Show: Speed!

Cost: FREE

Ages: 7 – 13

Join one of CU Boulder’s beloved Nobel Laureate Professors, Eric Cornell on a journey through space, all in good time at the CU Wizards Show — Speed! Students will learn more about the fastest thing ever seen and also be given useful tips on how to best observe a very slow pet! The Annual Frost Giant will be held on Sunday, January 27th, 2018 in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado. Lace up your running shoes and grab a warm hat to partake in this fun and adventurous 5K race. The 5K will start at the Estes Park Municipal Building entrance on MacGregor Ave. The race begins on pavement and then becomes cross country. Check out this fun, free program at CU Boulder’s Museum of Natural History, Learning from Nature. How do plants and animals solve survival challenges? Through hands-on discovery, families will make observations and discoveries about how structures and processes in nature solve problems. And how we can learn from them to develop sustainable ways to solve human problems. Meet CU Boulder students and community partners who are weaving together science, technology, engineering, art, and math to find innovative and sustainable solutions for the challenges we face in our changing environments. Explore their approaches and experiment with your own “STEAM” ideas by observing, predicting, building, testing, and creating.

Puppy Yoga- Brighter Days Dog Rescue

When: Saturday, January 27, 2018

Where: Colorado Athletic Club-Flatirons, 505 Thunderbird Ct E, Boulder, Colorado 80303

Time: 10AM, 11AM & 12PM classes available

Cost: $15 Minimum Donation

Join Brighter Days Dog Rescue for their first Puppy Yoga, with all proceeds benefiting the dog rescue. Choose from 10am, 11am, and 12pm classes. The $15 minimum donation which includes the class, guest passes, snacks, and mimosas. This is a family friendly event is open to both members and guests of the Colorado Athletic Club.

Maker Expo Open House: Recycle & Upcycle

Longmont Symphony: Family Matinee Concert

The Longmont Symphony Orchestra presents a Family Matinee Concert featuring combined forces of the Longmont Youth Symphony and the Longmont Symphony, the winner of the LSO Young Artist Competition, and author/narrator Jack Prelutsky, our family concert is for music lovers of all ages!  Jack is the author of the popular children’s book, Behold the Bold Umbrellaphant, as well as more than 70 poetry collections. He was named a U.S. Children’s Poet Laureate by the Poetry Foundation in 2006.

Have you ever wondered how you can see more wildlife while out walking or hiking? By attending the Wildlife Watching in Winter workshop at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, become a skilled wildlife watcher by learning how to look for signs including tracks & scat, how to interpret the signs that you see, and find clues that can point you in the right direction. Home to over 5,000 animals, kids will be immersed in a tropical rainforest where 1,600 butterflies live and Rosie, the tarantula is ready to be held by brave children. Step to Water’s Edge to be immersed in an underwater world full of sea creatures. The pavilion also features lovely gardens and a nature trail, as well as a fun gift shop.
