Centennial State Ballet will perform The Sleeping Beauty, a ballet in a prologue and three acts, for their Spring gala production. The well-known fairy taleis the story of a baby princess, condemned at her christening by an evil fairy to prick her finger and die on her 16th birthday. She is saved by the gift of the good Lilac Fairy, who declares the princess will only sleep until awakened by the kiss of a prince. The two main conflicting forces of good and evil serve as a theme throughout this fairy tale, replete with a king and queen, fairies both good and evil, a beautiful princess and dream prince and magical stage effects. Audiences of all ages will be entranced as the beloved story comes to life onstage through the artistry of the Centennial State Ballet performers. Choreography by Kristin Kingsley, inspired by Marius Petipa. Musical accompaniment features the Centennial State Ballet Chamber Orchestra. **Special Ballet Petit performance is perfect for younger audiences. Enjoy a narrated version of The Sleeping Beauty performance in a theater setting. See Princess Aurora, Prince Desire, and the Lilac Fairy up close when you take your picture with the characters after the show.
