It’s the last long weekend of the school year for BVSD students! I’ve put together an extended guide with all kinds of fun activities and events happening Friday through Monday, in and around Boulder.
10th Annual Family Fishing Frenzy

Bring your kids and your fishing gear and head on down to the Warembourg fishing pond for a fishing clinic sponsored by Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Louisville Parks & Recreation Department. Topics to be covered will include knots, casting, fish habitat, fish handling, laws and more. Once making it through all of the educational stations you will be given your very own children’s fishing pole! Fishing licenses are required for parents and children over the age of 15. Frequent FlyersAerial Day Off Camp

If your child has ever dreamed of flying, this is the perfect activity for the BVSD days off! At the Aerial Day Camp, kids will be led by professional teachers of aerial arts, dance and theater. Students are invited to Frequent Flyers® Aerial Dance Studio to learn skills on trapeze, aerial fabric, aerial sling, dance and so much more. Free Baby Dance Class at InsideOut Creative Movement

InsideOut Creative Movement is starting its spring class session and is inviting you to take a free baby class. Class is appropriate for caregivers and babies 3 months to prewalkers. Comfortable clothes and bare feet are best.
Thorne Spring Fest

Looking for something fun and FREE to do with your children on BVSD’s Spring In-service Day? Hop into Spring with Thorne Nature Experience at the Sombrero Marsh Environmental Education Center. Kids will enjoy nature crafts, a fire-making demo, face-painting, nature hike explorations with Thorne Staff, and dancing and singing in rainbow socks with the best nature performers – Jeff & Paige at 11AM! Pack a picnic lunch and a picnic blanket to enjoy the mountain views. Thorne will have light refreshments donated by in-kind sponsors. This event will mostly be outdoors, rain or shine. Parents Night Out Princess Pizza Party

Out & About’s Kid’s Center Stage Performance

Come support Out & About’s Kids Program‘s performance of Let The Wild Rumpus Begin. This production is an adaptation of “Where the Wild Things Are” written by the participants of Center Stage Theatre Company in collaboration with Bridget Heddens. Sponsored by the Lafayette Arts Commission and PEN, the BVSD Parents Engagement Network.
CU Museum of Natural History’s Curious Connections in Nature

In the wild world around us, everything is connected. Curious Connections in Nature is a new exhibition at the CU Museum of Natural History that delves into these connections through hands-on activities, multimedia displays, and specimens from the Museum’s collection. The exhibition highlights symbiosis in our bodies, our backyards and beyond. While you are at the museum, check out the ongoing fossils exhibit. In the lower level, kids will love the interactive play and learning area. Right outside the play area parents can enjoy a nice, FREE cup of coffee or tea in the museum’s BioLounge with comfortable seats and inviting atmosphere. Family-friendly bathrooms are located upstairs. Admission to the museum is FREE. The museum is open Monday – Friday: 9AM – 5PM, Saturday: 9AM – 4PM, and Sunday: 10AM – 4PM.
Colorado Tartan Day Festival

Learn about your Scottish-Irish ancestors at the Colorado Tartan Day Festival. It’s a chance to wear those kilts, bodices, Outlander gear and all the tartans. Live music and dancing, as well as a variety of Celtic house goods, jewelry, leather goods, food trucks, re-enactment performances and much more. Well behaved pets welcome! It’s the bash of the season and a celebration of another fantastic winter! Eldora Mountain Resort‘s Spring Beach Party and Pond Skim is a day of fun, splashing, and sending a season off with some fun. Grab your best beach outfit and test your skimming ability to rock out the last day of the season. Dress up in your best beach attire! The Pond Skim is open to all ages and on the day of the event we will have a registration/waiver desk setup for the adventurous ones who want to give it a go. Soak up fantastic spring conditions, uncrowded slopes, live music, discounted beers from 10 Barrel Brewing Company, and, of course, the 10 Barrel Snow Beach, with on-snow beach games like giant jenga, giant croquet, giant cornhole, and more.
Boulder Running Company Grand Re-Opening Party

Join Boulder Running Company for a Grand Re-Opening Party to celebrate the newly renovated store. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a series of surprises throughout the day. Boa will be mixing tunes with a DJ all afternoon, Hoka One One is sponsoring a running challenge and On Running is putting on a fitness fashion show. Try out the treadmill challenge for the chance to win a $250 gift card, plus one lucky winner could win free shoes for a year. Coffee and soda will be provided by Oskar Blues and there will be yard games for the kids (and the adults).
Spring Break Roller Derby Double Header

Head on out to the Boulder County Fairgrounds this Saturday to watch the Boulder County Bombers in a double header! At 6PM, BCB All Stars vs Crossroads City Derby and at 8PM BCB Bombshells vs 10th Mountain Roller Dolls. This is a family friendly event. Adults will enjoy craft beer and cocktails, as well as a concession stand. The Juniors Program, Boulder County Bottle Rockets, will also be showing off their skills in between the two bouts, at about 7:30.
Colorado Jewish Food Fest

Colorado is at the forefront of the Jewish Food Movement, which connects food and sustainability with Jewish tradition. Hazon, which promotes Jewish food and environmental movements, and Milk & Honey Farm at the Boulder JCC are proud to present a day of eating, hands-on activities, workshops, music, art, and farm tours at the Colorado Jewish Food Fest. This multi-sensory day is a way to connect with your roots and experience how Jews do food in the 21st century. Jeff and Paige will be at the festival with a sustainability themed concert!
