Midsummer is here! The calendar for July is bursting at the seams with old favorites and new exciting events in the Boulder Area. Boulder Creek Fest, Colorado Music Festival, RockyGrass and Fiske Planetarium are back, bringing our Boulder summer *almost* back to normal. Tons of outdoor events: yoga in the park, dancing on the Museum of Boulder’s rooftop, eBike street mural tours, outdoor shows… the list goes on and on! On the Wall To Wall Boulder eBike Mural Ride you’ll see dozens of murals and other sights/sites while touring Boulder in fine style and ease on a Rad Power Bike. Your guide, Joel (JD), is a long-time local with a passion for Boulder, art and showing people a good time on two wheels. ​The leisurely 2 & 3 hour rides (your choice!) covers 10-20(ish) miles (eBikes make it easy!) and uses murals as our map to an insider’s view of what Boulder’s about. Discount Ghost Stories: Songs from the Rockies

Local Theater Company, in partnership with the City of Boulder and Arts in the Park presents “Discount Ghost Stories: Songs from the Rockies” at the Boulder Bandshell. Fall down the mineshaft in “Discount Ghost Stories: Songs from the Rockies.” This haunting and hopeful original concert features bluegrass, pop and funk music interwoven with rarely-heard true stories of Colorado’s past. A formerly-enslaved woman searching for her daughter. A Chinese laundryman seeking justice. A Ute youth killed by a prospector. A silver mine superintendent with an itchy trigger finger. And a pair of cab drivers who may have their own wild ideas about your ultimate destination.

Broomfield 4th of July Carnival

Come out to the Flatiron Crossing mall for a fun-filled 4th of July weekend at the Broomfield 4th of July Carnival. Admission is free, rides are ticketed. Colorado Music Festival | Beethoven 7 + Augustin Hadelich

Music Director Peter Oundjian opens the 2021 Colorado Music Festival season with Beethoven’s brilliant and beloved Seventh Symphony. The Festival welcomes its 2021 artist-in-residence: violin phenomenon and audience favorite Augustin Hadelich. Hadelich begins his residency with Mendelssohn’s lyrical and inviting Violin Concerto, an absolute showpiece for the instrument. The program opens with a world premiere by the Pulitzer Prize- and Grammy Award-winning composer Aaron Jay Kernis, one of the most powerful voices in contemporary American music, whose touching elegy commemorates those we’ve lost. Firehouse’s ArtWalk Longmont is hosting weekend mini art festivals all summer long with Summer on the Streets. Even through the pandemic, the Firehouse Art Center wants to support art, music and the local economy! ArtWalk Summer on the Streets is spread out over 8 weeks, allowing us to safely limit the amount of people gathered at once, while still offering an opportunity for artists to share their art and music. The 3-time winner of Colorado Daily’s “Best Local Band” and Denver Westword’s 2-time winner of “Best Country Band”, Gasoline Lollipops, is coming to The Bee Hugger Farm. Gasoline Lollipops stitch scraps of American roots music to patches of their own tattered hearts to form an all-new tapestry of bleeding rock n’ roll. We are THRILLED to host them. Join the City of Longmont Recreation Services for the Rogers River Run 5k: the GREENWAY GLOW! Wear your glow and party apparel to run, walk, or dance the 5k all the way to the finish line. Timeless Iranian Melodies Rooftop Concert

Join the Museum of Boulder and the The Persian Cultural Circle for a live concert on the rooftop featuring Iranian and Central Asian (Turkish, Arabic, and Kurdish) melodies. Learn to sing a Persian song with us before you lean back and enjoy the concert under the stars. This musical presentation is brought to you by the Persian Cultural Circle in honor of TIRGAN, the Iranian summer Festival. It honors the rain deity along with water, our most precious shared resource which nourishes the crops and us! It was customary for friends to weave bracelets out of rainbow-colored threads and give them to one another as a sign of friendship, well wishes, and intentions for happiness. Wearing the colorful bracelets, all would go outside, share sweets and wine, dance, sing, play music, and engage in water splashing games while enjoying being in the community with others. Play Me A Memory: Celebrating the Music of Billy Joel & Elton John

Collectively, these two artists have sold almost half a billion albums and dominated the music scene for over half a century. In this stunning all-Mozart program, the “energetic and engaging” Ludovic Morlot (Daily Telegraph) conducts the composer’s Symphony No. 40 in G Minor, an urgent and intensely expressive masterpiece which explores the anguish and triumph of the human spirit. After a year and a half of online story slams, Boulder’s Story Slam is excited to be back in person for the “We’re Back!” event. They’ve got the mic. You bring the stories. This month’s theme is CAMP. What happened while you were camped out at home during quarantine? Did you get away with staying up past curfew at camp? Did your campiness win you the lead role of the school musical? Did you fall in love with your camp counselor? All the details on how the slam works here. Our late July favorite is back! Lyons becomes the center of the bluegrass universe as generations of legends and future-legends and Festivarians converge under the red rock cliffs of the St. Vrain River at Planet Bluegrass for RockyGrass. This year’s lineup includes Sam Bush Bluegrass Band, Bela Fleck, Della Mae, The Infamous Stringdusters and many more. Bluegrass lovers who have kids can rejoice — kids 12 and under enter for FREE! Gentle Yoga on the Roof with Kerry Maiorca

Museum of Boulder is hosting Gentle Yoga on the Roof with Kerry Maiorca. This class will consist of warm-up exercises, yoga poses for strength, flexibility, coordination and balance, and relaxation time at the end of class. Rooted in the traditional yoga tenets of unity of body, mind and breath, this class is for those who are stiff and need gentle wake-up cues for the body. Get ready for a truly unique outdoor show with Crow Song Trio at The Bee Hugger Farm! Crow Song Trio incorporates elements of folk, blues, rock, and more, with a focus on songwriting and improvisation. Crow Song plays original music like nothing you’ve heard. Do crows sing? Come find out. Spend time enjoying the farm, great tunes, good people, and the summer vibes. Tickets are only $15, available here. Your entire ticket will go towards a non-profit that will be drawn from entries during the event and the cost of the band/event. This event will follow all local health & safety current guidelines. A kid favorite and one of our family’s favorite things to do around Boulder in June! Join the musical duo Jeff and Paige for mornings of children’s music and nature education. Sponsored by City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks Division Meadow Music is an award-winning environmental education program.

With similarities between Chris’ and John’s voices, award-winning singer-songwriter, Chris Collins brings the unmistakable energy and enthusiasm to the stage that was the hallmark of John Denver’s performance. The Colorado Shakespeare Festival was founded in 1958 and is still going strong. Held every summer at the picturesque Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre and the indoor University Theatre on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, this festival is consistently among the most critically acclaimed of its kind in the nation. CSF’s award-winning education program also presents classes, workshops and camps for all ages throughout the year.
