Halloween isn’t just for kids! Halloween is two weeks away and there are a ton of great Halloween things to see, do and experience right here in the Boulder area. Crawl the mall, attend a masquerade, meet Boulder spirits, view elaborate displays, check out a local haunted house and MORE. Here is a list of 10 fun things to do in Boulder to celebrate Halloween.
#1 The Boulder Mall Crawl

When: Main Event held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 7PM, also held Halloween Night at 7PM.
The Mall Crawl is Boulder’s Halloween tradition where ghastly ghouls crawl Pearl Street Mall and revel in Mall Crawl’s magic. This is a free, unorganized event that goes back to the 1980s. Wear a costume, bring a friend! And keep an eye out for the Thriller Dance.
The Boulder Mall Crawl is held on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. The event is FREE.
#2 The Frightmare Compound

When: Sunday – Thursday 7 PM – 10 PM, Friday & Saturday 7 PM – 12 AM through October 31, 2018. Special Lights Out Event November 1 – 3, 2018.
Colorado’s oldest haunted house, The Frightmare Compound is sure to terrorize even the bravest of souls. Located in the Broomfield/Westminster area, Frightmare is a true house of horror featuring a clown house, frightful farm and creepy ambiance. Visit this world famous haunted house by October 31 or, for an extra thrill, check our the Lights Out Event happening November 1 – 3, where you can experience the terror in total darkness.

#3 Anderson Farms Terror in the Corn

When: The Fall Festival runs from September 19 – October 31, 2018. Monday – Thursday, 10AM – 6PM, Friday 10AM – 11PM, Saturday 9AM – 11PM, Sunday 9AM – 10PM
Anderson Farms is hosting its annual Fall Festival, complete with a pumpkin patch, hayrides and so much more! Admission includes a ton of fun activities such as Colorado’s longest-running 30-acre corn maze, hayride to the pumpkin patch, pumpkin launching, mine cars, barrel train, farm animals, farm lights and so much more. For those who enjoy a fright, after dark Anderson Farms hosts Zombie Paintball Hunt, a unique paintball experience where you shoot zombies throughout the cornfield (but don’t worry, you won’t get shot!) while riding on a zombie wagon. #4 Stunning Halloween Display in Thornton Neighborhood

When: Lights are displayed every evening from 7 PM – Midnight throughout October.
The Denning Family displays this creative, multi-faceted Halloween extravaganza in their yard every year! All the props are handmade by Cameron Denning. Themes include Dia de Los Muertos, a witch’s coven, an abandoned carnival and more!
This elaborate display is located at 14709 Detroit Way, Thornton CO 80602. Viewing the display is always FREE.
#5 Meet the Spirits at Boulder’s Columbia Cemetary

When: Sunday, October 21, 2018, from 12 PM – 5 PM
Eben G. Fine, Mary Rippon, Tom Horn, and Rocky Mountain Joe are just a few of the historical characters that will come to life, as you wander through Columbia Cemetery, a National Register of Historic Places treasure and local landmark.
Join in the Halloween spirit with vintage hearses, mourners in period costumes, live music, a children’s cemetery scavenger hunt, and a burial re-enactment. Discover facts about Columbia Cemetery, meet local history authors, visit with psychics, learn about green burials and much more at Meet the Spirits.

#6 Halloween Masquerade Party at the Stanley Hotel

When: Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 8 PM-Midnight
The Stanley Hotel is hosting a Halloween Masquerade Party featuring a theatrical Thriller performance from the internationally renowned Who’s Bad Michael Jackson tribute band. Guests will moonwalk through the dark décor of the Stanley’s 110-year-old concert hall created and designed by one of Colorado’s top theatrical design groups. Against, the dark pop culture backdrop, guest will enjoy dancing, spirited drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and killer Halloween costumes.

#7 Monster Dash 5K, 10K & Kids Races
When: Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 1PM – 6PM
Check out Louisville’s Halloween race — Monster Dash! Throw on your costume and get ready to run. There will be 2 distance choices, the 5k “Fun Run” is for the entire family to run together (Ages 5 and up)…strollers allowed. The 10k Race is for the bit more serious runners going for a place in their age divisions. Immediately following the 5k and 10k, there will be 3 different races for the “Little Zombies” ranging from 1/4 mile to 1 full mile. Kids receive custom kids bib, glow stick, meal, milk/drink, kids candy, finisher medal and cool finisher gift. Post-event activities include a costume contest, trick or treating for kids as well as a party where adults will receive one free beer from Avery and kids receive free juice or soda. #8 Laser Halloween Spooktacular and Freaky Moons
When: Thursday, October 25, 2018, from 9 PM – 10 PM
Calling all ghosts and goblins! Join Fiske Planetarium for a spooktacular laser music Halloween show, and experience the creepy, oddball moons that exist right in our own solar system. #9 All Souls/Vampires Masquerade Ball
When: November 2 & 3, 2018 from 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM
Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance & KGNU present the All Souls / Vampires Masquerade Ball at the Dairy Arts Center. Get your immortal dead on and party with Frequent Flyers. Dancing to DJ Buddha Bomb with guests Darshan Dance Tribe. There will also be costume contests, excerpts from the iconic Theatre of the Vampires, raffle drawings for tattoos from Surfbilly Tattoo and Rising Tide Tattoo Emporium, photo ops with the Hearse and Coffin provided by Crist Mortuary. 18+ event. #10 Rocky Horror Picture Show featuring Colorado’s Elusive Ingredient

Experience cult classic, Rocky Horror Picture Show with shadowcasting group – Colorado’s Elusive Ingredient. Shadow casting is when a group performs the scenes of a movie in front of the movie. Not a theater production, this is a balance between a quality production and having a good time. During the show YOU will be expected to yell, dance, and throw things. This is an audience participation movie! Formed in 2000, Colorado’s Elusive Ingredient is a nationally recognized cast with many accomplishments such as holding the world record for the largest Rocky showing of over 8,081 tickets sold! Rocky Horror is the longest-running release in film history and has a large cult following drawing in crowds weekly throughout the world.
