Spring Break is almost here for BVSD kids. If you don’t have any plans yet, don’t panic! There are plenty of fun and exciting options to get the kids out of the house all week long! From free activities to paid workshops and camps, below are 14 exciting opportunities for kids during Spring Break in and around Boulder.
Boulder County Free Day at Colorado Railroad Museum
The Colorado Railroad Museum is proud to offer free general admission and rides behind a historic steam locomotive to all Boulder County residents on Friday, March 30. Catch a ride behind one of the Museum’s historic steam locomotives in vintage passenger cars. The Colorado Railroad Museum features over 100 narrow and standard gauge steam and diesel locomotives, passenger cars, cabooses and G-scale garden railway on our 15-acre railyard. Also, see the exhibit galleries, renowned library, roundhouse restoration facility and working turntable. Admission: Boulder County Residents, Museum Members and Children under 2 are free. For all others fees are as follows: Children $5, Adults $10, and Seniors $8. Ride Tickets: Boulder County Residents Free. For all others: Adults (16+) $4, Children (2-15) $2. Museum members receive $1 discount per ticket. The museum is open from 10AM – 4PM.

Painting & Sculpture Making at Tinker Art Studio
Tinker Art Studio is offering several afternoon art workshops during Spring Break. Offerings include painting, fabric dying and sculpture making. Workshops cost $32 + $6 materials fee. For all the details and to register, click here.

Gateway Park Fun Center
There is something for everyone at Boulder’s favorite amusement park, Gateway Park Fun Center. Kids will love the retro feel of the two miniature golf courses, bumper cars and go carts. The park also offers batting cages, inline hockey rink, human maze and more. Gateway is offering a special deal for Spring Break – $19.95 for Mini Golf & Go-Karts for Two, with 20 Arcade Tokens (Regularly $34).

CU Museum of Natural History’s Curious Connections in Nature
In the wild world around us, everything is connected. Curious Connections in Nature is a new exhibition at the CU Museum of Natural History that delves into these connections through hands-on activities, multimedia displays, and specimens from the Museum’s collection. The exhibition highlights symbiosis in our bodies, our backyards and beyond. While you are at the museum, check out the ongoing fossils exhibit. In the lower level, kids will love the interactive play and learning area. Right outside the play area parents can enjoy a nice, FREE cup of coffee or tea in the museum’s BioLounge with comfortable seats and inviting atmosphere. Family-friendly bathrooms are located upstairs. Admission to the museum is FREE. The museum is open during Spring Break Monday – Thursday 9-5.

School Day Off Camp at CATS Gym
Join CATS Gymnastics for an afternoon of fun for School Day Off Camp. Kids will have an awesome time bouncing, flipping and tumbling through a fun-filled school day off. The camp will run on Monday and Wednesday from 12:30PM – 2:30PM. Ages 5 – 12 Pre-Register here. Ages 4 and younger an adult is required to stay. $15/child. Pre-Register by calling 303-939-9699.

We Are All Composers at Erie Community Library
We Are All Composers is an exciting musical exploration program introducing the basics of music composing while building a positive self-awareness and strengthening children’s self-confidence. Presented by Enthusic Music Company at the Erie Community Library for kids grades 1-5. This FREE program will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 1:30 – 3PM. Kids Camp Painting at PoshSplat
Kids Camp at PoshSplat is a great way for kids to spend a fun morning during Spring Break. Step by step instruction is provided by a local artist and everyone paints a picture that is uniquely theirs. Check the calendar to see the offerings available each day. Cost of each 3 hour class is $24. Pizza lunch available for an additional $6 (or bring lunch from home).

Hike & Learn at the National Center for Atmospheric Research
The National Center for Atmospheric Research offers beautiful outdoor spaces and Visitor Center, perfect for a fun day out with the kids. At the Visitor’s Center, kids can learn about weather and climate with interactive displays. Kids can play with clouds and even create their own tornado! Other exhibits include Sun-Earth Connections, Layers of the Atmosphere, Climate Discovery and more. Guided tours are available from 12-1 on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, or you can opt to move through the exhibits on your own. Take a hike at the base of Boulder’s amazing flatirons with gorgeous views. NCAR offers a cafeteria that is open weekdays (except holidays) for breakfast, 8:00 am – 9:30 am and lunch, 11:30 – 1:30 pm (Cafeteria accepts only cash). Visitor’s Center is open Monday – Friday from 8AM – 5PM. Admission is always FREE to the public! Parking is also free.

Kids Day Out at Color Me Mine
Color Me Mine is hosting Kids Day Out on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Super Gamers will ‘craft’ some ‘super’ fun projects together. This fun day out includes pizza, games, friends and fun! Spring Break Aerial Day Camp at Frequent Flyers

Spring Break with Growing Gardens
Growing Gardens is offering fun, educational activities during Spring Break. In collaboration with BVSD Lifelong Learning, Growing Gardens is offering a variety of garden and pollinator-themed classes to keep your children exploring and learning. Spring Break Soccer Clinic
Longmont Indoor Soccer will be offering skills clinics over Spring Break for ages 4 to 16 yrs. Players will receive specialized soccer training on the fundamentals, technique, and tactics necessary to play at a highly competitive level. Clinics will be overseen by coach Peter Ambrose. We have a large staff of coaches ready to train so we will offer this clinic to a wide age range of players. For full day (9AM – 4PM) $75/day. For half day (9AM – 12:30PM or 12:30PM – 4PM) $40/day. At Butterfly Pavilion‘s Spring Break Camps, Discover the incredible plants and invertebrates that inhabit our local ecosystems.
